Departments in the School of Arts and Humanities will ensure that all students with a declared major in the arts or humanities have access to effective, meaningful, and timely guidance from faculty. Advisers in the School of Arts and Humanities will strive to maintain regular and frequent contact with advisees to offer guidance and encouragement, answer questions, and generally assist them with matters pertaining to their studies, intellectual/creative development, and professional preparation.
Advising will start immediately after a student is accepted to Buffalo State and declares a major in the arts or humanities and will continue through degree completion. The objective of advising is to aid students in identifying, honing, and mastering their talents and interests, and to provide effective administrative, organizational, and scholastic habits of mind that lead to successful academic performance and timely degree completion.
