Ciminelli Hall 52.1 Surround Sound System

The 52.1 surround sound system installed in Ciminelli Hall is a one-of-a-kind sound diffusion facility. Extensive research in the creation of software/panning algorithms for multi-channel sound has been conducted to highlight the hall's technical and artistic capabilities. The relevance of this research has recently been recognized—a 30-minute paper presentation on this system will be featured at the 2015 Audio Engineering Society Convention in New York City.

Designing Digital Learning Opportunities for 21st Century Music Students

Music education majors enrolled in MUS 220 Technology Applications for Music Education created innovative and engaging music courses for middle- and high school-students, culminating in a showcase of their work for the Buffalo State community.

As part of the semester-long project, student utilized a mobile learning environment created by Ken Fujiuchi and Andrew Chambers from Butler Library as part of a SUNY Innovative Instructional Technologies Grant (IITG). Within that environment, students developed vital digital technology skills needed for successful 21st century music teaching.

UV Database

Art conservators have long used ultraviolet radiation as an effective and economical didactic tool to study a wide range of materials. This database is designed to collect pertinent information about materials’ visible fluorescence behavior when examined under UV via a user-friendly Doolli platform. A comprehensive UV Database will be an invaluable resource for teaching as well as for comparative studies in various academic and professional fields.
