Visual Arts

An Arts Destination

Studies in the visual arts are central to the advancement of contemporary culture. By educating the next wave of artists, teachers, and designers who achieve creative and scholarly excellence in their chosen fields, Buffalo State increases social awareness, promotes visual literacy, and engages the community in cultural dialogue.

Buffalo State's visual arts programs were ranked 13th on College Database’s “Top 50 U.S. Colleges Where Art Programs Abound” list. The website ranked Buffalo State ahead of Cornell and Yale and just behind the University of Southern California. The college offers a number of visual arts programs that can't be found at any other SUNY school, including communication design, fibers, metals/jewelry, and wood/furniture.
