International opera star Jacqueline Quirk joins Buffalo State pianist Ivan Docenko for a performance of opera and art-song favorites. The second half of the performance will include a masterclass with Buffalo State students.
Soprano Quirk is making her mark in the realms of operatic performance throughout the world as one of opera’s exceptionally exciting stars. Quirk is internationally recognized as possessing a captivating full Spinto soprano voice with an extensive versatile range. Celebrated as a brilliant interpreter of Verissmo Opera and the roles of Mimi (La Bohème) and Cio-Cio San (Madama Butterfly), Tosca, Nedda and Suor Angelica. Of which she has received glowing reviews wherever she performs. As well as stepping into the more heavier Spinto roles like Santuzza, Aida, and and most recently Georgetta in (IL Tabarro).
Gracing operatic stages worldwide, highlights include Hawaii Opera Theatre, La Monnaie (BE), Annapolis Opera, Bangkok Symphony, Vero Beach Opera, Asheville Lyric Opera, St. Petersburg Opera, Canton Symphony, Mansfield Symphony, Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, NYC, The Kennedy Center, Nickel City Opera, Opera Florham, Puccini Opera Co. of DC, Jacksonville Lyric Opera and First Coast Opera, to name a few.
Engagements in 2015-2016, included a return as The Mother (Amahl & the Night Visitors). Jacqueline originated the role of Mrs. Milburn in the World Premiere of “SHOT” based on the assassination of President McKinley. Both with Nickel City Opera. A debut with Buffalo Philharmonic in “Copland and the Cold War," Santuzza in (Cavallaria Rusticana) in various venues throughout New York City. As well as a return to Italy as Donna Elivira (Don Giovanni) at the Teatro Verdi in Monte San Savino, as well as the soprano soloist in Rossini’s Stabat Mater in the Cortona Sacred Music Festival. Along with maintaining a busy performance schedule, touring her concert “Along the Journey,” and conducting various master lasses/lectures throughout the U.S. and Italy.
In 2014-2015, Jacqueline performed Suor Angelica in Italy at the Sacred Music Festival of Cortona; covered the role of Tosca for both Nickel City Opera and El Paso Opera; then returned to NYC to sing the roles of (Nedda/Georgetta) in a double bill of (Pagliacci/ILTabarro) in concert with the NYOF.
Jacqueline also has a passion and degree for teaching voice and opera directing, with Voice Studio’s in NYC, Buffalo, and Ithaca. She has assistant directed and directed, La Boheme, Madadma Butterfly, Tosca, Faust, La Traviatta, Die Fledermaus, Pagliacci, and Bluebeard’s Castle, Suor Angelica, and Amahl and the Night Visitor’s, along with many gala’s and concerts. Her Directing credits include The Bremerton Symphony, National Opera Center, NYC, Columbia University, New York University, Kitsap Opera, WA, Hawaii Opera Theater, Bechstein Concert Series, NYC, Florida Concert Opera, and most recently, the Buffalo Philharmonic, Virginia Symphony, Virginia Arts Festival, Nickel City Opera, Central Florida Lyric Opera and El Paso Opera.
Currently, Quirk teaches private voice and voice classes to grades 1-8 at the prestigious Nardin Academy, and will be the conductor of the Junior Choir. Quirk has taught masterclasses, lectures, private voice, acting, music theater, theater appreciation, and music appreciation at the following institutions: New York University, Hunter College, NYC, P.S 183 – NYC, Hawaii University, Hawaii Opera Theater, Hawaii Academy of Performing Arts, Saint Andrew’s Priory School for Girls, HI, Flagler College, FL, Jacksonville Community College, El Paso Opera, University of Juarez, Mexico, IYAP – International Young Artist Project, Italy, Bolzano Music Festival, Italy.
