Saxophonist Richard Elliot has been blowing audiences away with his soulfully robust playing fo rmore than 30 years. He was a member of the funk band Tower of Power playing tenor sax for 5 years during the 1980s. He also worked on Stacy Lattisaw's 1986 album Take Me All The Way. His solo career took off when he remade the Percy Sledge classic "When a Man Loves a Woman." His Summer Horns Project was Grammy nominated, taking the jazz world by storm alongside Mindi Abair, Dave Koz and Gerald Albright.
With his album Lip Service, Richard Elliot has come full circle as one of the reigning merchants of Soul Jazz and cementing his role as one of the great contemporary sax players in the world. While working on Summer Horns in 2013, he had the opportunity to revisit his roots as one of the founding members of Tower of Power by performing "So Very Hard To Go" and working alongside arranger Greg Adams again. This led to Greg Adams arrangement for the GRAMMY-nominated "Shining Star" on Lip Service.
