Dr. Hinton, a noted critic of American experimental poetry, will perform excerpts from her most recent book of poetry, Ubermutter's Death Dance(BlazeVOX, 2016), and will demonstrate the interpretive connections that can be cultivated through creative movement and song. Her multimodal approach incorporates movement design, song and voice, layers of voice with video, and still photography. Dr. Hinton’s performance will focus on cultural approaches to grieving and on feminist historiography. The event is sponsored by the Office of Equity & Campus Diversity, the Grant Allocation Committee, the Academic and Student Affairs Office, the Dean's Office of the School of Arts & Humanities, and the English Department.
